I was just working on a custom navigation control for a portal, which my team is doing. I came across a great tool STSDEV which is an abbreviation for Simple Tools for SharePoint 2007 Development.
I have not learned so much in last two weeks about moss (that is the whole time I have been working with MOSS, yes, just two weeks as of now) but this tool looked promising.
The main problem i feel which hinders learning about developing MOSS based solution is the shear complexity and a long list of skills one should have to develop MOSS solution. As a part of team the obviously becomes easy for you never get to see the whole picture (at least in the beginning) but i am certain if you try the three screen-casts in the project release section you will observe how the complexities are eliminated by a single add on to Visual Studio.
There is way too much information in the screen-casts to cover in a 10 line blog post but i definitely recommend it for beginners like myself.
Maybe if i learn enough in a few months i can add to this project. Anyway, i shall at least be modifying it for internal use at TietoEnator.
Cheers to Ted Pattison!

I just arrived back in Stockholm after a 3 day session of MOSS learning in Microsofts Finland (Espoo) office. It was really fun. At first the whole thing appeared to be full of problems but our instructors (Vesa "vesku" Juvonen and Alexi)were too good. By end of third day i was sure that I can learn it well and develop MOSS based solutions which TietoEnator Sweden is specially emphasizing that. My managers here are right - Scandinevia is actually an early adopter of MOSS as a platform, i could not tell by the look that the famour beer comapny Carlsberg has it developed as a MOSS solution.
I hope i get to start developing with it as early as posible.
cheers till next time.
